Gelateria Dolce Come: When the Sweetness Ends at the Door

During a lovely day in the city with our 4-year-old son, we decided to stop by Gelateria Dolce Come, hoping to treat ourselves to some refreshing ice cream. With the sun shining and a crowd of people enjoying the beautiful weather, it seemed like the perfect place to indulge. Unfortunately, our experience was far from sweet.

😕 A Cold Reception

From the moment we walked in, it was clear that warmth was not on the menu. The staff was anything but welcoming, making us feel as though our presence was more of a nuisance than a valued visit. In a place meant to spread joy through delicious desserts, this cold attitude left a bitter taste in our mouths before we even got to try the ice cream.

🍨 No Fruit, No Fun

Craving a fresh and fruity ice cream sundae, we were disappointed to hear that they couldn’t make any because "it's not the season for ice cream." It was hard to believe, especially with so many customers flocking in to enjoy a frozen treat on this fabulous day. While seasonal availability is understandable, the way this message was conveyed made it seem like we were asking for too much.

🏃‍♀️ Overwhelmed or Underprepared?

If the reason for the poor service was being overwhelmed by the number of customers, it raises the question — why open a business if you can’t handle the demand? Being busy is usually a good sign, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of basic customer service.

Final Thoughts — 2/5

Our experience at Gelateria Dolce Come was more disappointing than delightful. With unwelcoming staff and limited offerings despite the perfect weather, it felt like the heart of this place was missing. We hope this was just an off day, but for now, we’d think twice before returning. If you’re in Luxembourg City and craving ice cream, you might want to explore other options.
