Le Castellet is a picturesque village perched high in the hills of Provence, known for its medieval charm and stunning panoramic views. With origins dating back to the 12th century, this fortified village has retained much of its historic architecture, including its ancient ramparts, narrow cobblestone streets, and beautifully preserved stone houses. It’s easy to see why Le Castellet has earned the label of “Plus Beaux Villages de France” (Most Beautiful Villages of France).
However, for such a gem, it’s a bit disappointing that the Château, now occupied by the town hall, hasn’t made a few rooms available for tourists to explore. Aside from visiting the single church and wandering the picturesque streets, there’s not much else to do, which leaves a feeling of wanting more from a village with such a prestigious title. That said, Le Castellet’s serene atmosphere, combined with its rich history and undeniable beauty, still makes it a worthwhile stop for anyone exploring the Provençal countryside. #lecastellet #medievalvillage #ProvençalCharm #HilltopViews #HistoricFrance #StoneHouses #frenchcountryside #travelfrance #PlusBeauxVillagesDeFrance #hiddengems
